450g (1 lb) fresh green beans (trimmed)

2 tbsp butter or olive oil

3 garlic cloves (minced)

½ tsp salt (or to taste)

¼ tsp black pepper

¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little kick)

⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese (freshly grated preferred)

Optional: Lemon zest or a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness
Instructions
Step 1: Blanch the Green Beans (Optional for tenderness)

Bring a pot of salted water to boil.

Add green beans and cook for 2–3 minutes until bright green and just tender.

Immediately transfer to an ice bath to stop cooking.

Drain and pat dry.
Step 2: Sauté with Garlic

In a large skillet, heat butter or olive oil over medium heat.

Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, just until fragrant (do not brown).
